Wills
A will provides instructions on how your assets will be distributed when you die. A will won't avoid probate but will avoid the probate court making decisions on how your estate will be distributed.
Health Care Directives
A health care directive provides specific instructions about health care decisions in the event that you are unable to make decisions for yourself.
Transfer on Death Deeds
As of January 1, 2016, California allows the use of Transfer on Death Deeds as a way to transfer real property upon a person's death and avoid probate. Contact us to see if this is an option for you.
Trusts
A revocable living trust can avoid the probate process. It allows property and other assets to pass to designated beneficiaries without the need for probate, which can be a long process and expensive.
Trust Administration
As a successor trustee, you can retain our services to assist and guide you in following the terms of the trust and properly following applicable state law.
Power of Attorney
A durable power of attorney allows you to appoint someone to make medical and/or financial decisions for you in the event of you becoming incapacitated and unable to make decisions for yourself.
Probate
Probate is the process occurring after a person dies and their estate needs to be administered. If the person left a will, distribution will be made in accordance with it. If the person did not leave a will, then distribution will be made in accordance with California state law.
